Jeopardy James honors Alex Trebek wi 爱上海th donation

    “Jeopardy!” champ ends record-breaking streak

“Jeopardy James” Holzhauer made a donation to pancreatic cancer research in honor of “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek, who was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year. Holzhauer learned about a fundraising walk in his Illinois hometown and donated over $1,000 to it after organizer Ann Zediker reached out, she told CBS News in an interview.

Zediker was following Holzhauer’s 32-game winning streak on the popular game show when she realized he was from Naperville, Illinois — the town where she’s lived the last 20 years. She found him on Facebook and figured, why not invite him to the2019 Naperville Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk?

“We were watching every day,” Zediker said Thursday. “‘[I said] I’m going to reach out to him. Maybe he’ll come t,上海龙凤论坛Fatma,o the walk.’ He was such an inspiration.”

Holzhauer, who now lives in Las Vegas, won’t be around for the July 14 event, but he made a donation to the walk, which is raising funds for the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research.

According to the foundation’s fundraising page, Holzhauer gave $1,109.14 and said it was for “Alex Trebek and all the other survivors.” Why the odd dolla,上海419论坛Natalie,r amount? The digits correspond to the day of his daughter’s birth.

Zediker’s mission is personal. Her father died in 2010 from the disease and started organizing annual walks to raise money to find a cure for it. “There’s a lot of emotion tied to this cancer because it’s so lethal,” she said. “Typically, if we’re lucky, one or two survivors attend.”

She hopes those who attend next month’s event in Naperville will “have nice moment of healing and support.”

Trebek told People magazine in May that he is “near remission” less than three months afterannouncing his diagnosisof stage 4pancreatic cancer— an illness with a five-year survival rate of only 9 percent. Trebek called his positive response to chemotherapy “kind of mind-boggling.”

As for Holzhauer, he made over $2.4 million on “Jeopardy!” and outplayed dozens of other contestants, but fell just short of Ken Jennings’ all-time record. He spoke to CBS Las Vegas affiliate KLAS-TV about his play on the show after he was finally dethroned by Chicago librarian Emma Boettcher.

“My number one feeling was if I had to go out, I wanted to go out against a top player who beat me in a straight up contest and not because I made a silly mistake,” he said. “It was a true honor to go out on top having played against just an awesome player who couldn’t be stopped.”

“This was a wonderful experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything,” Holzhauer added.

JassirTorrential rain, damaging wind, hail poised to make mess of commute

Folks who are tired of the summerlike humidity that the area has had in these last few days of spring will likely enjoy the forecast for the first few days of summer: much less humidity and average high and low temperatures.

But the cold front that will be part of the pattern change will bring some strong or severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening. Therefore, it is a Storm Team4 weather alert day, as the reg,上海龙凤419Davey,ion anticipates formal watches and/or warnings from the National Weather Service.

The daytime heating of this Gulf Coast-like humidity will create an unstable atmosphere which will be lifted by the approaching cold front. Clusters of storms will develop in the mountains and move in waves from southwest to northeast. Those storms will be able to tap the strong winds aloft and bring them down to the surface, creating potentially damaging wind gusts.

An isolated brief tornado or two can’t be ruled out in these conditions; at the very least, a few thunderstorms could start rotating, but there may not be a touchdown. Regardless, straight line wind damage and large hail are very possible in these thunderstorms. Most of the latest computer guidance indicates the greatest threat for these storms in terms of areal coverage will be closer to central Virginia and southern Maryland.

As the front slides through the area Thursday evening and night, the storms will weaken and dissipate. The humidity will then start dropping gradually. It won’t be as muggy Thursday night, and a strong northwest breeze on Friday will transport in even drier air. Humidity will continue dropping, with the sun going in and out of fair weather clouds.

The next chance for storms won’t be until Sunday as more humid air tries to return with a warm front, but the areas most likely to see those would be toward the mountains. A better chance for the rest of the area exists on Monday.

This year’s summer solstice in our hemisphere occurs at 11:54 a.m. Friday Eastern Daylight Time. Saturday will be the first full,爱上海Louise, day of summer.

UFOs are one conspiracy theory Jassir that Trump doesn’t buy

(CNN)President Donald Trump, a noted conspiracy theorist, is skeptical of UFOs.

But his Space Force could come in handy: Senators want answers about UFOs sighted by Navy pilots.By UFO, we mean unidentified flying object and not necessarily aliens. They’re probably not aliens, but the unidentified objects recorded by Navy pilots and written about twice by The New York Times in recent years have now led to briefings for the Senate Intelligence Committee and President Trump.

“If pilots at Oceana or elsewhere are reporting flight hazards that interfere with training or put them at risk, then Senator Warner wants answers. It doesn’t matter if it’s weather balloons, little green men, or something else entirely — we can’t ask our pilots to put their lives at risk unnecessarily,” Rachel Cohen, a spokeswoman for Democratic Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, told CNN.

Trump told ABC News he’d also had a meeting on the subject, but that he’s skeptical the fast-moving objects are anything extraterrestrial.

“I did have one very brief meeting on it,” Trump told ABC News in an interview that aired Sunday. “But people are saying they’re seeing UFOs. Do I believe it? Not particularly.”

The government has been quietly studying the possibility of UFOs for decades.

Sen. Harry Reid, the former Senate majority leader and Nevada Democrat, helped push for a secretive Pentagon program — Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program — that’s been studying the possibility of extraterrestrial UFOs.

“My personal belief is that there is very compelling evidence that we may not be alone,” Luis Elizondo, who resigned from the program to protest its hypersecrecy, told CNN in 2017.

“These aircraft — we’ll call them aircraft — are displaying characteristics that are not currently within the US inventory nor in any foreign inventory that we are aware of,” Elizondo said of objects researched by the program.

The Navy has a system in place for pilots to report and to catalog sightings, but that system does not include the public release of any information.

But the idea of UFO’s has long captured the American imagination, and the idea that the government has covered up discoveries has been a long-running suspicion that no amount of released documents can kill.

Jimmy Kimmel, the comedian and late night host, has made sport of asking presidents about UFOs.

Barack Obama and George W. Bush seemed in on Kimmel’s joke.

“I can’t reveal anything,” Obama teased.

Kimmel asked Bush if he had gone through UFO files, to which Bush said, “maybe.”

“I’m not telling you nothing,” Bush said.

But Bill Clinton told Kimmel in 2014 that he had aides research the subject and that, “If we were visited someday, I wouldn’t be surprised; I just hope it’s not like ‘Independence Day.'”Hillary Clinton, during the 2016 presidential campaign, at the prodding of campaign manager John Podesta, pledged to get the government to declassify any information on Area 51 and aliens. (Area 51 is a secretive military base in Reid’s Nevada, which documents released by the CIA in 2013 suggests had more to do with spy planes than alien aircraft.)

Bill Clinton told Kimmel that discovering life from another planet could bring people together.

“It may be the only way to unite us in this incredibly divided world of ours. If they’re out there, we better think of how all the differences among people on Earth would seem small if we felt threatened by a space in,上海千花Terry, vader,” Clinton said.

The FBI, the CIA and other government agencies, thanks to the gift of the Freedom of Information Act, have actually revealed a lot of information about its investigations into reports of flying saucers and things like that.

It’s interesting that Trump, who has built his political career around conspiracy theories of other people, and has a deep distrust of the science around climate change, should be so skeptical of aliens. He’s on the side of science in terms of UFOs, however. He wants to see before he believes.

Trump is, however, big on space. He’s told NASA to think big about getting a person to Ma,上海龙凤419Terry,rs.He wants to create a new multi-billion dollar Space Force within the Pentagon. But Space Force is not meant to guard against aliens, but rather to guard against the advancements of other countries in space.

But who knows? Maybe it’ll come in handy for something else.

Success comes from keep 上海419论坛ing calm: Koepka

Brooks Koepka tees off on the 18th hole during the final round of the 2019 US Open Championship on June 16 in Pebble Beach, California. Photo: VCG

Brooks Koepka isn’t one to sit still as the four-time major champion returns to the Travelers Championship less than a week after falling just short of winning a third straight US Open.

World No.1 Koepka finished three strokes shy of fellow American Gary Woodland who claimed his first major championship at Pebble Beach on Sunday.

Koepka, who is seeking to win his seventh PGA Tour title, joins defending champion Bubba Watson, former back-to-back winner Phil Mickelson, and rising star Viktor Hovland in the field for the $1.2 million event that began Thursday in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Koepk,爱上海Louise,a says keeping busy is his way of staying sharp on the Tour and even though he was in contention in Pebble Beach he’s not as tired as he was last year when he won his second consecutive Open.

“Last year I don’t even think I knew where I was,” he said. “It was all kind of a whirlwind.

“It’s a lot different when you win and you’re trying to play the week after. It’s a bit hectic, chaotic.

“This week, it’s difficult still. I just feel mentally exhausted from last week just being in contention. But another day of rest today and I’ll be fine for tomorrow.”

Koepka has only two PGA Tour wins outside of his four major titles. He says he now has a routine that allows him to succeed where in the past he might have lost his focus in the middle of a round.

“Not everything is results-based with me. It’s about the process,” Koepka said. “I think that’s why I’m able to play so well in the majors, because I’m not worried about winning.

“I’m not worried about the pressure of being in first or trying to do somet,上海419论坛Dilara,hing, accomplish three in a row, whatever it was.

“Even last week it’s just about the process. So if I can get the process down the result is going to come.”

Koepka said he’s matured as a golfer and a person and is no longer the type to get angry if he blasts a tee shot into the water or lands his ball in an awkward divot.

“I look back from college and I had to switch – I was a hot head,” he said.

“I learned to understand that even if I hit it in the water or out of bounds, I’m not trying to do that. I’m human.

“I’m going to make some mistakes. I can get over that. I think that’s part of why I’m not afraid to take chances and go at pins.”

Koepka said he’s thinking about the upcoming British Open and how he is going to get ready. He plans to pass on the Scottish Open and arrive a couple of days before the first round begins.

“I usually go over to the British a little bit early, a couple days before, and just try to get some work in,” Koepka said.

“I’m not planning on changing my schedule. It’s always been that way.

“It’s fun to get over, get acclimated a couple days before. That way when I get there on Monday I’m used to the time change and feel like I have a good understanding of the golf course.”

H 上海千花amilton seeks to stretch lead in France

Lewis Hamilton will seek to stretch his lead and extend Mercedes unbeaten run to 10 races with a victory unaided by fortune at this weekend’s French Grand Prix.

The defending five-time drivers’ champion, a lucky winner in Canada two weeks ago when Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was controversially penalized, won at the remote sun-baked Le Castellet track last year and is hunting his sixth win this year and the 79th of his career.

If he, or teammate Valtteri Bottas, succeeds, it will mean the Silver Arrows have won all eight contests this year after finishing last season with two triumphs.

But after a testing weekend in Montreal, where four-time champion Vettel claimed pole position and finished the race first “on the road,” Hamilton and Mercedes are wary of any signs of complacency.

Team chief Toto Wolff admitted, “Canada was something of a wake-up call for us,” said Wolff.

“After a run of very good reliability over the opening six races, we experienced a number of problems almost all of which were of our own making.”

He said the team would learn from their problems and thanked Mercedes mechanics for their excellent work.

“We expect another tough fight in France,” he added. “The circuit features some similarities to Montreal and the long straights will present a challenge for us.

“But unlike Canada, the corner characteristics are spread across a range of speeds, which should play to our advantage. We’re looking forward to the chance to put a few things right again.”

Hamilton won from pole last year and is driving with more assurance and maturity than at any time in his career, leaving even a revitalised Bottas, in the same machinery, struggling to keep pace. The Finn has won twice this year.

Ferrari showed clear signs of their own awakening in Montreal where the power-hungry nature of the circuit suited their engine power, but Mercedes hope to match them and draw level with McLaren’s run of 11 successive triumphs in 1988.

The Italian team claimed victory and lodged notice of an appeal against the outcome following the race in which a five-second penalty, for the manner in which Vettel rejoined after running off across a grass strip.

They later withdrew that appeal notice, but have subsequently sought a review of the stewards’ decision, citing new evidence to follow.

Hamilton goes into the race with a 29-point lead over Bottas and 62 on Vettel who is due to arrive in France with an improved Ferrari.

“We will have a few small evolutions,” said team chief Mattia Binotto. “It won’t be a solution to our problems, but the feedback will be important for the future.”

Max Verstappen will aim to make sure his Red Bull is in the mix at the front after finishing second last year, following a collision involving Bottas and Vettel at the start. “I’m hoping we can be challenging them,” he said.

After last year’s traffic debacle around,爱上海Virginia, the circuit, which left thousands of fans grid-locked for more than five hours, the organisers have said they have a “good plan” to avoid any repeat.

Former McLaren team chief Eric Boullier, an ambassador and adviser to the French event, said they had partnered with Swiss exp,上海龙凤419Linda,erts Citec to find a solution. “We have to fix the issues we had last year – that’s a given. And if we solve those problems and if we pass the second edition without mobility issues, it will be forgotten,” he said.

Washington informs India of p 上海419论坛ossible caps on H-1B visas over stored data concerns

The US has told India it is considering caps on H-1B work visas for nations that force foreign companies to store data locally, three sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters, widening the two countries’ row over tariffs and trade.

The plan to restrict the popular H-1B visa program, under which skilled foreign workers are brought to the US each year, comes days ahead of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit to New ,爱上海Ethan,Delhi.

India, which has upset companies such as Mastercard and irked the US government with stringent new rules on data storage, is the largest recipient of these temporary visas, most of them to workers at big Indian technology firms.

The warning comes as trade tensions between the US and India have resulted in tit-for-tat tariff actions in recent weeks. From Sunday, India imposed higher tariffs on some US goods, days after Washington withdrew a key trade privilege for New Delhi.

Two senior Indian government officials said on Wednesday they were briefed last week on a US government plan to cap H-1B visas issued each year to Indians at between 10 percent  and 15 percent of the annual quota. There is no current country-specific limit on the 85,000 H-1B work visas granted each year, and an estimated 70 percent go to Indians.

Both officials said they were told the plan was linked to the global push for “data localisation,” in which a country places restrictions on data as a way to gain better control over it and potentially curb the power of international companies. US firms have lobbied hard against data localization rules around the world.

A Washington-based industry source aware of India-US negotiations also said the US was deliberating capping the number of H-1,上海龙凤论坛Maurice,B visas in response to global data storage rules. The move, however, was not solely targeted at India, the source said.

Migrants in limbo off Italy as wo Triannorld marks Refugee Day

Italy’s far-right interior minister marked World ,上海贵族宝贝论坛Darcy,Refugee Day on Thursday by insisting migrants rescued by a charity vessel are banned from entering Italian territorial waters.

The rescue boat Sea-Watch 3 has been stuck in the Mediterranean since rescuing 53 migrants drifting in an inflatable raft off the coast of Libya on June 12.

However, ten of the migrants, including two pregnant women, were allowed to disembark Saturday on the Mediterranean island of Lampedusa, which lies between the Italian mainland and the north African coast.

The remaining 43 include six women and four unaccompanied minors.

Sea-Watch 3 has refused to return those rescued – including children and sick people – back to crisis-hit L,爱上海Jordan, ibya, saying Tripoli was not a safe port.

Saturday, interior minister Matteo Salvini announced he had signed a ban on the entry, transit and berthing of Sea-Watch 3 in Italian territorial waters, as provided for by his new Security Decree.

The decree still has to go before Italy’s parliament, where the coalition government holds a comfortable majority.

“The Sea-Watch ship doesn’t give a fig for rules, and trafficks human beings. And I’m not going to give permission to dock to those who ignore the rules,” Salvini told RadioUno Thursday.

Son of woman who died in DR says he was told country’s toxicology machines are brok Samuelen

The son of the Staten Island woman who died of an apparent heart attack in the Dominican Republic told The Post early Friday that the country has not done a toxicology report on her — because the country’s toxicology machine’s are broken.

Will Cox, 25, said his mother Leyla Cox went to the Excellence Resort in Punta Cana last week to celebrate her 53rd birthday. On June 10, the day after her birthday, he said he got a call from the U.S. embassy, saying his mother died of an apparent heart attack.

“I don’t know how she died. I don’t know where she died — I know it was in a hotel. I don’t know if she was in a room or at the bar,” Will said in a phone interview.

“The Dominican Republic has not released an autopsy report. They will not do a toxicology report on her because they say the toxicology machines in the Dominican Republic are broken,” Will added.

“I’ve been trying to get her body,上海贵族宝贝论坛oftr, flown back to the US, so we can do our own autopsy and our own toxicology report,” he said. “But unfortunately that will cost a fortune. And I do not have anywhere close to that sort of money.”

Will, who lives in Tennessee, said his mother was a traveling MRI technician who settled in Staten Island about ten years ago and took a job at Richmond University Medical Center.

He said his mother was in great health and ,上海龙凤论坛soad, walked everywhere because she did not own a car.

She was an occasional drinker, he said, who likely would have had a few drinks on her vacation.

“That’s what vacation is for — to enjoy yourself and have a good time. That being said, she would not have drank excessively,” Will said.

He did not know if she drank from the minibar at her resort, but was suspicious of the way the country has handled her death.

“I truly believe if she was not in the Dominican Republic she’d be alive today,” Will said.

Cox is the seventh known tourist to have died from a mysterious illness at a Dominican Republic resort in recent weeks.

Many of the deaths — and several other severe illnesses — involved healthy, middle-aged adults who had taken a drink from their hotel room minibar before suddenly becoming gravely sick.

Dominican authorities insist the fatalities are unfortunate and isolated incidents. Excellence Resort did not immediately respond to request for comment.

‘Chernobyl’: Russian Communist Party Calls For Ban Of HBO’s Miniseries In T Jassirhe Country

Communists Of Russia, a Marxist-Leninist communist party, said Thursday that it has asked Russia’s broadca,上海贵族宝贝论坛mu,sting regulator, Roskomnadzor, to block local access to “disgusting” HBO miniseries Chernobyl.

The party, not to ,爱上海hvu,be confused with the bigger, more powerful Communist Party of the Russian Federation, went on to call for a libel lawsuit against the writer, director and producers of the series, claiming that the program “turned a tragedy into an object of ideological manipulation,” “demonizing the Soviet regime and Soviet people.” (The party’s Sergey Malinkovich, who made the statements, admitted that the series for the most part portrayed correctly the chronology of events and key moments of the nuclear disaster.)

Asked for comment by Russian media, Roskomnadzor said that they had not received a formal inquiry by Communists Of Russia but would examine the request if it’s filed and would respond as stipulated by law.

Chernobyl, which chronicles the April 26 1986 reactor explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear plant, has become an unlikely global phenomenon. It has enjoyed enormous popularity everywhere, including Russia, which is prepping its own TV movie about the incident.

The Russian Baltic Fleet carried out military drills in the Baltic Sea, while maneuvers by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) were underway, the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday.

Russia nee 上海贵族宝贝论坛ds to restore leadership in space: PM

Russia, a pioneer in space, has no right to give up its positions and needs to restore its leadership, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday.

“This is not only a matter of prestige, but also a matter of nation,上海419论坛rzus,al security,” Medvedev said, opening a meeting of senior government officials on the development of the Roscosmos state space corporation, according to an official transcript.

He said that the Russian government was investing heavily in space exploration and it expected returns.

According to Medvedev, the government had channeled about 260 billion rubles (4 billion U.S. dollars) for space progra,爱上海jwcq,ms in 2019, most of which had reached Roscosmos, and before the end of the year, it will be allocated another 200 billion rubles (3 billion U.S. dollars).

However, Roscosmos has so far used only 22 percent of the allocated money, which may result in incomplete use of the existing industrial capacities and failure to comply with various deadlines, Medvedev said.

He noted that the state contracts for manned space flights have not been fulfilled and the deadlines for launching modules for the deployment and operation of the Russian segment of the International Space Station have been constantly put off.

Roscosmos and federal structures have to solve these issues taking into account economic sanctions and other restrictions imposed on Russia, Medvedev said.

China builds world’s largest credit reportin 爱上海g system to achieve orderly society

China has built the world’s largest credit reporting system, which will serve as a basic information provider for the construction of a nationwide social credit system that helps trace individuals’ economic activities, restrict defaulters’ moves everywhere and build China into an orderly society, officials and analysts told the Global Times on Friday.

“China has now built the world’s largest credit reporting system in terms of the information being recorded, the scale of data and the scope of coverage,” Zhu Hexin, vice president of the People’s Bank of China(PBC), the country’s central bank, said at a press briefing of the State Council Information Office in Beijing on Friday.

So far, information about 990 million individuals and 25.91 million enterprises and other organizations has been recorded in the system, Zhu said.

PBC officials told the Global Times at the press briefing that the credit reporting system will facilitate China’s ongoing efforts to build a nationwide social credit system by 2020. The PBC, along with the National Development and Reform Commission, China’s top economic planner, has led the efforts in setting up the social credit system.

“The central bank’s credit system is like a basic information provider. We share information with relevant departments that also provide information to the social credit system, through which we can form a deeper and wider network that is able to track individuals’ behavior and make [debt] defaulting impossible,,爱上海bzak,” Wan Cunzhi, head of the Credit Information System Bureau of the PBC, told the Global Times.

Wan said defaulters will hit hurdles everywhere in economic activities. For example, someone with outstanding debts in China’s southeast costal area will be banned from accessing loans, even if they apply in northwestern regions decades later.

In the credit system, there is also an invisible blacklist, which will extend to various aspects of life, including the housing fund, social security and utility records, which will help foster a comprehensive and accurate social credit system, Dong Dengxin, director of the Finance and Securities Institute at the Wuhan University of Science and Technology, told the Global Times.

In this way, every individual will be motivated to be honest and society will be managed in an orderly manner, Wan said.

Under the social credit system, China has been releasing blacklists of people and enterprises with dishonest behavior since 2018. In May, China banned 307 “discredited” people from taking trains and 960 ar,上海贵族宝贝论坛zkh,e banned from flights.

Dong also suggested that Chinese regulators, financial institutions, and internet firms that provide online financial services should work together to help build a wide-ranging credit scoring system. “We have not reached the same level as the US in building a credit system which has a scoring system to rate a person’s creditworthiness,” he said.

China’s credit reporting system also plays an indispensable role in preventing financial risks and maintaining financial stability, officials said. Small- and micro-sized enterprises as well as private firms have benefited a lot from the system, as it eases the information asymmetry in China’s financial market by providing a wider scope of information sharing.

For example, a credit provider in Suzhou, East China’s Jiangsu Province has collected information about tax payments, social security contributions, utility bills, and IP applications from local government departments, which help the company to form credit scores and reports for small- and micro- enterprises, and based on this, they can easily access bank loans.

Renault-Nissan clash exposes flaws in Fiat deal as governance issues would hobble a broader 上海龙凤论坛 alliance

Squint hard, and it’s possible to interpret the latest headlines involving Renault and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as progress toward reviving the carmakers’ 33-billion-euro ($37 billion) merger. Step back, however, and negotiations involving the French group’s state shareholder and Japanese ally Nissan Motor expose the dysfunctional governance that would hobble a broader partnership.

The merger plan that Fiat Chairman Jo,上海龙凤论坛ur,hn Elkann abruptly withdrew last week after meddling by the French government may not be entirely dead. Elkann and his Paris-based counterpart, Jean-Dominique Senard, are seeking to revive a deal, Reuters reported on Monday, possibly by reducing Renault’s 43 percent stake in Nissan. Separately, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said the government could reduce its 15 percent holding in Renault. Finally, Senard sent a letter to Nissan Chief Executive Hiroto Saikawa threatening to block the Japanese group’s plan to overhaul its governance following the ousting of Chairman Carlos Ghosn.

It’s possible to distill signs of hope from the noise. After all, Le Maire effectively sank talks with Fiat because he was concerned about Nissan’s frosty reaction. If Renault sold some shares in its Japanese partner, and the government also reduced its influence over the French group, Nissan might decide to support the merger. Senard’s threat to veto the Japanese company’s overhaul gives it an extra incentive to play ball.

It’s still a long shot, though. Renault’s previous attempts to corral Nissan into closer cooperation have prompted a backlash.

Senard’s letter arguably breaches the spirit of a 2015 agreement where Renault pledged not to interfere in Nissan’s governance. An unravelling of the Franco-Japanese alliance would undermine the appeal of a Renault deal to Fiat, which reckons 2 billion euros of its planned 5 billion euros of annual cost savings will come from joint purchasing o,上海419论坛ha,f materials.

It would also be an odd time for Renault to sell Nissan’s shares, which are down 30 percent in a year.

Crucially, Le Maire’s prominent role in the negotiations reinforces Elkann’s concerns over government intrusion. With so many participants demanding a seat at the table, successfully running an enlarged company seems an even more distant prospect.

上海419论坛Italy’s coalition to work to avert EU disciplinary action over budget

Italy’s coalition leaders have agreed to work together to avert European Union disciplinary action over Rome’s worsening public finances after a late-night meeting with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Monday, the prime minister’s office said.

In a statement published overnight, Conte said h,上海贵族宝贝论坛pbjw,e and his two deputies – League leader Matteo Salvini and 5-Star Movement head Luigi Di Maio – would meet with Economy Minister Giovanni Tria and his staff to draw up a strategy to avoid an infringement procedure.

Officials from the 28 EU states will meet on June 11-12 and are expected to say an EU disciplinary procedure against Italy over its 2.3 trillion euro ($2.6 trillion) debt is warranted.

“All’s well, it was a good meeting. Our shared goal is to avoid the infringement while safeguarding economic growth, employment, as well as tax cuts,” Salvini said in a statement after the coalition meeting.

“There won’t be any budget correction nor tax increases.”

Rome’s debt has been rising steadily from a pre-crisis low of 104 percent of domestic output in 2007 and now stands at 132 percent – second only to Greece’s within the eurozone.

Market concerns have been heightened by the spending plans of,爱上海hvti, the eurosceptic government which took office a year ago.

Emboldened by the League’s strong showing in last month’s European election and local polls across Italy, Salvini has made tax cuts a priority for the government and has repeatedly taken aim at Brussels, demanding an overhaul of EU fiscal rules.

However, Conte has made clear he does not want a confrontational approach in the looming EU talks and has threatened to resign if the two coalition leaders fail to reach a compromise to settle the budget tussle with Brussels.

Both Di Maio and Salvini have expressed confidence that Rome would reach an accord with the EU, but have made clear that the government had to stand up to the European Commission.

Diplomatic Sources Confirm Friendship Tr Shelwinee Planted by Macron and Trump on White House Lawn Died

A sapling oak, which French President Emmanuel Macron brought to America as a gift to US President Donald Trump in April 2018 and which was planted on the Southern Lawn of the White House, has died while in quarantine.

The tree was meant to symbolize the friendship between the US and France, yet it had died while the two presidents met in Caen for the 75th anniversary of the D-day landings, the diplomatic sources confirmed to AFP, which the sources suggested was a “metaphor for a relationship that isn’t what it once was”

Macron, on a state visit to the US at the time, tweeted that the sapling would be “a reminder … of these ties that bind us” and the “tenacity of the friendship” of the two nations. From little acorns, great transatlantic ties would take root and grow, was the message.

The two presidents have had strong disagreements since then. Trump pulled the US out of the 2015 Paris climate accord – while they also don’t see eye to eye on Iran, the role of the EU and trade.

The sapling came from Belleau Wood, north-east of Paris, the location of a ferocious,上海贵族宝贝论坛jn, but pivotal battle in which 1,811 Americans died in June 1918 during the First World War.

Macron and Trump, wielding gold-coloured spades, shovelled dirt around it, while being watched by first ladies Brigitte Macron and Melania Trump and the world’s press duri,爱上海klx,ng the April 2018 state visit. However, once the cameras were off, the tree was uprooted and placed into quarantine to avoid the spread of non-native diseases and invasive insects.

Gérard Araud, the then French ambassador to the US, explained that the move was “mandatory for any living organism imported into America” and that the tree would be replanted later, yet it has died in quarantine.
